Integrative Meditation, Yoga Nidra and Controlled Breathing

Integrative Meditation, Yoga Nidra and Controlled Breathing

“Welcome home, welcome home to yourself.”

The brain, mind, body and breath are part of an incredible machine that allows us to have the human experience of life. Once we have an understanding of its abilities, we come to respect it and want to work with it to create the inner world that we want. And by default, our inner world influences our outer experiences.

I believe that meditation is about ‘quieting the mind’, not emptying it (you cannot stop the mind doing its job). However you can take back control of it and I help you achieve this using simple techniques right from your first class.

Using integrative non sleep deep relaxation (NSDR) and yoga nidra techniques along with visualisation and breath work, my classes help you retrain your body and mind. I teach you techniques which you can apply in your daily life to help you calm yourself deeply, deal skilfully with challenging situations and to develop a strong sense of well being.

NSDR and yoga nidra is a delicious meditation that requires little effort, all you have to do is lie down, get comfortable and listen to my voice… yes it really is that simple! Yoga nidra translates to “yogic sleep” which in simple terms means that you reach a place of conscious deep relaxation, moving between the brainwaves, until you come to a deeply relaxed state.

Because of this, this wonderful practice has been scientifically proven to have both emotional and physical health benefits helping to manage conditions such as anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia. It is even used to enhance focus and memory and increase learning abilities. Studies show that 20 minutes of quality yoga nidra is the equivalent of one hour of deep sleep, so it’s the perfect pick-me-up at any time of the day (and the longer the nidra, the more refreshed you feel).

Controlled breathing has been shown to reduce stress, increase alertness and boost your immune system. For centuries yogis have used breath control, (knows as pranayama), to promote concentration and improve vitality. Buddha advocated breath-meditation as a way to reach enlightenment. In each of my classes I teach various controlled breathing techniques, including coherent breath that can be done by all.

So come along to a nourishing drop-in session to experience a sense of ease, control and peace and leave with renewed energy to face the day and week ahead.

I also offer drop-ins and longer-term workshops that focus on:
